Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad bin Raja Tun Uda
Raja Tan Sri Arshad ranks as one of Malaysia’s respected business leaders holding multiple portfolios in the boardrooms of leading companies in Malaysia.
Raja Tan Sri Arshad is currently a Chairman of various companies, amongst others, Yayasan AMIR, Maxis Berhad, Ekuiti Nasional Berhad, Icon Offshore Berhad and Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan Dayadiri and Chancellor of Universiti Selangor.
He had previously served as the Executive Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia.
Raja Tan Sri Arshad is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) where he served on its Council for more than two decades, including three years as its President.
Datuk Dr. Syed Muhamad bin Syed Abdul Kadir
Datuk Dr. Syed is currently a Director of Euro Holdings Berhad, BSL Corporation Berhad, ACR ReTakaful SEA Berhad, Malakoff Corporation Berhad and Solution Engineering Holdings Berhad, among other private companies. He is the Chairman of Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Berhad and Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad.
From 1993 to 1997, Datuk Dr. Syed served as an Alternate Director and later as the Executive Director of Asian Development Bank, Manila, Philippines. He had previously held numerous high positions in the public and private sectors namely as the Secretary General in the Ministry of Human Resources, the Deputy Secretary General in the Ministry of Finance and the Secretary in the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
Datuk Dr. Syed graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from University Malaya in 1971. In 1977, he obtained a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, USA. He also holds a PhD in Business Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA. In 2005, he obtained a Bachelor of Jurisprudence (Hons.) from University Malaya. He obtained the Certificate in Legal Practice in 2008 from the Malaysian Professional Legal Board and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in July 2009. Datuk Dr. Syed later obtained a Master of Law (Corporate Law) from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in November 2009.
In June 2011, he became a member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, United Kingdom and in May 2012, he became the fellow of the said Institute.
Mustafa Kemal Olgaç
Kemal Olgac is currently an Independent Director of Koç Holding A.S. and Acibadem Sağlik Ve Hayat Sigorta A.Ş. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Akasya Bakim ve Yasam Merkezi A.S. He is a member of TŰSIAD industry and business association and the 1907 Fenerbahçe Association.
He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Turkey and as the Chairman of the Turkey Insurance Association and Turkish Insurance Institute Foundation. He had also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Allianz Sigorta A.S. and Allianz Hayat ve Emerklilik .A.S., and as the Chairman of Magdeburger Sigorta A.S. and Mondial Assistance Turkey.
Kemal Olgac graduated from Boğaziçi University in Mechanical Engineering and completed two Masters Degrees at University of Wales in Controlling Engineering and at Edinburgh University in Fire Safety Engineering.
Dato’ Dr. Nirmala Menon
Dato’ Dr. Nirmala is currently an Independent Director on the Board of Directors of Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad.
In a career spanning over 24 years, Dato’ Dr. Nirmala held various leadership positons within the Asian Life and Health Insurance industry. Most recently, Dato’ Dr. Nirmala was the Regional Head for MetLife Asia based out of Hong Kong. In this role, she had management responsibility for MetLife’s operations in Hong Kong, Australia and South Asia, new market entry into South East Asia and also led the strategic development and execution of MetLife’s Health strategy for Asia.
Prior to MetLife, Dato’ Dr. Nirmala was with ING for several years holding various senior positions, most notably President and Chief Executive Officer of ING Malaysia and Regional Head of South Asia in Hong Kong. During her time with ING, she grew ING’s operations to become the second largest insurance company in the country, managing a well-balanced multichannel operation covering Individual Life, Health and Takaful Insurance.
Dato’ Dr. Nirmala is a qualified medical practitioner and practised medicine for nine years in the Malaysian public health sector. She was recognized as the “Leading Woman in Finance and Investment in Asia” by the Women in Leadership (WIL) Awards in 2011.
Ken Pushpanathan, a retired Partner of Ernst & Young, is currently an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committees of the Asian Institute of Finance Berhad, Bursa Malaysia Berhad, IJM Corporation Berhad, IJM Plantations Berhad, Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Berhad and Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad.
He is the Chairman of the Listing Committee of Bursa Malaysia Berhad and serves as a Trustee/Board Member of several foundations and non-profit organisations. He was a Board member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) and the Honorary Secretary of the Financial Reporting Foundation (FRF).
Ken Pushpanathan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He is a Council member and was a past President of MICPA.
Ooi Say Teng
Ooi Say Teng is also a Director of Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Berhad, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad and Acibadem Sağlik Ve Hayat Sigorta A.Ş. in Turkey. He has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry as well as extensive management experience having held senior leadership positions with both local and global companies in Malaysia. A graduate with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Actuarial Science from The City University, London and a Diploma in Actuarial Techniques from the Institute of Actuaries, London; his areas of expertise include actuarial, operations, reinsurance, bancassurance, corporate marketing, information technology and process improvement.
Ooi began his career back in 1983 at MCIS Insurance Berhad, and held several leadership positions at MBA Life Assurance Berhad and Mayban Life Assurance Berhad before he became the Chief Executive Officer of UniAsia Life Assurance Berhad in 2003. In 2010, he joined CIMB Bank Berhad as the Head of CIMB Group Insurance, before being appointed as Chief Executive Officer at Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Berhad.
He has also served as the Vice President of LIAM (Life Insurance Association of Malaysia) in 2009, sat on the Board of Directors of Tune Insurance Malaysia Berhad and Labuan Reinsurance (L) Ltd. He has also held the positions as the Deputy Chairman for Malaysia Life Reinsurance Berhad and President Commissioner of CIMB Sun Life in Indonesia.
